About Scott
I am a figurative and landscape oil painter living and working in Austin Texas with my wife and 2 children.
I have been painting in oils for about 5 years after transitioning from acrylics which I started seriously working with in about 2000. I have a background in traditional illustration, design and photography and studied photography and darkroom printing at the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston, graduating in 1991.
I also co-run the Night Moves Art weekly figurative drawing group at Pump Project in Austin and have been drawing from life on a regular basis (1-2 times a week) for the past 3 years.

This blog is an active archive for my work in progress, discussions of recently finished pieces as well as a place for me to share inspiration and the artists I enjoy. I hope you might find it interesting and learn a little bit about my work and process . I also hope it might also help other artists out there just learning to de-mystify some of the the ins and outs of painting with oils, at least in terms of my approach.

Finally, I hope you might join in the discussion and leave a comment or links of your own to work and further information online about other artists or artwork you enjoy. The web is all about sharing and I believe the business of learning and doing art should be as well.
